Chatham
WW1 Memorial
|
The Chatham
Naval Memorial is sited high on the hill overlooking the town
of Chatham and it's Naval Establishment, HMS Pembroke. It bears
the names of the ranks and rating of both World Wars whose home
port was Chatham and who have no other grave but the deep. The
WW1 Memorial is in the form of a column with bronze panels at
it's base. Identical memorials are located at the other naval
manning ports of Portsmouth and Plymouth.
The WW2
Memorial takes the form of bronze panels build into a circular
wall surrounding it.
